I'd also like to see you put together a hip hop song. You need to be able brand a beat/write the 8 beat base/use the up beat and down beat in a fresh signature way/write a connecting "chorus" hook/smash out some lyrics that flow/hammer out the arrangent/meld the hook with the arrangement and most importantly hit the studio for days sometimes weeks to put your lyrics to the music.

On top of that.......this might have to be a hit. Theres money involved..people to pay...bills to pay...deadlines to meet. On top of all that.....you need to be able to perform this hit infront of thousands and thousands of people. Did i forget you still have to be in tune...you still have to be able to sound good. Rap is easy??

Now, whenever you have completed your assignment. Then, just maybe, your rapping requires little musical talent statement can hold some water.

In an interesting twist you kind of contradict yourself, by saying most rappers dont know what they are doing. The way I look at it, you are also admitting alot of rockers dont either.

This all goes back to my original post in this thread. What happens in one genre, happens in all genres. Lets finish by talking about REALISTIC "mosts."

Most rock groups dont even make it. For every rock group that makes it big, there are countless of others that dont. For every rapper that makes it big, there are countless of others that dont. For every country artist that makes it big, there are countless of others that dont. So forth and so on.

Does this mean that they arent talented? By no means. It just means that most of the executive players dont see the ones that "wont" make it...as money makers. You CANT generalize one genre over others and say something is EASY. You have to rate each talent on their talents.

People confuse what "great music" is...compared to what "music" makes them feel good. THE FIRST IS AN OPINION.....THE SECOND IS A FACT. Make sure you know the difference. "Great music" is in the eyes of the beholder.

Once again its ok to get more enjoyment out of one genre over another, but to make statements that one genre is easy.....IS NAIVE.
ALot here but your opinion on what is great of how little you understand what 'great' music' is.

your statement:
People confuse what "great music" is...compared to what "music" makes them feel good. THE FIRST IS AN OPINION.....THE SECOND IS A FACT. Make sure you know the difference. "Great music" is in the eyes of the beholder.

Great music will be around for a long time. 10-20-100-200 years and more. Its not just what makes you feel good at the moment or at a certain age. Great music will be with us a long time. Long after you grow out of rap. I'm not trying to insult you. As time goes by this will become obvious. Great music, you know..the stuff you love at age 6 isn't the music you or most anyone will be listening to in their late 20s or 30s or beyond. It seemed great at the time tho. It doesn't make it great.

For great music you should listen to classical. Some rock has lasted 30 plus and more but great is something that reaches though generations. Only classical has that distinction. Its real music, more than a good beat or a group's ability to play in front of thousands.

Know any rappers who have a snowball in h*ls chance of that?

Rap is called Music? Lol...

Personally I listen to a lot of Trance (which is VERY different from Techno) & a bit of Rock (used to listen to it almost exclusively when I was in high school...now not so much). Rap is just bad.

But are you saying that rock DOESN'T loop its sounds?
No, I'm not saying rock doesn't loop sounds.

Rock doesn't loop 20 seconds of beat, two or three lines of "lyrics" and LOOP LOOP, then slow them down, speed up, slow again, repeat two or three words from those lyrics over and over, then slow down again...

Yeah, complicated. For instance - iTunes store has 20-second samples of songs, right? You can just get those 20 seconds and loop them twelve times.

I bet you couldn't produce any decent edm song. It is very complicated, but since you seem to generalize, and I doubt you have any idea on any genre's of edm or how to create any edm song. I want you to point a song that does what you described.

But you say rock does loop 20 seconds of beat. Let me start you off, Muse - Starlight. It is by no means an easy song, in fact Wolstenholme was asked what he thought "was the hardest song on the album to record?" In his response, it was "Starlight," stating it "was one of the songs we went around in circles with, and we recorded maybe six or seven different versions of it." From wiki

RAP: Rude Absurd Profanity

ROCK: Relatively Odd Conniption Kindler

I dont know they are both forms of music that many people like depending on their personality, culture, mood, and environment.

I listen to more "rock" but the word is a bit too broad to place up against rap. Since there are many different forms of rock like classic, indie, heavy, alternative, folk, pop, and tripp-rock, it is hard to place the two up against each other.

I dont listen to rap as much so im not sure of the sub-classes (if it even has any) but if im in the right mood i prefer rap over rock.

Take that as a neutral stance on this argument!
